Why counselling?
Perhaps you’re going through a tough time right now. Perhaps you feel that you could be getting much more out of life. Or that you tend to undermine yourself, or your relationships with other people.
My background and training
I’ve been trained in many kinds of personal development work, including bodywork, psychodrama, couples therapy, and psychodynamic and psychospiritual counselling. I’m well travelled and speak several languages, and I’m used to working with people from many different cultures.
I’m fully insured, and as an accredited member I work within the ethical and professional framework of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists – the country’s no. 1 official association.
I’m kind, patient, perceptive and supportive, and I’ll never judge or criticise you. Whatever difficult places we might go to in our work together, you can be sure that I’ve been there before in my own long therapy journey and training. That makes me a safe and trustworthy guide.

How counselling works
Many of us grow up with negative influences around us: indifference, criticism, insecurity, rejection, sometimes even hostility and aggression. As we grow up we find ourselves absorbing these energies, and in adult life they show up as low self-esteem, as anxiety, as outbursts of rage or as depression.
I’ll work with you to get the negative voices and feelings under control, to create distance from them and allow your more positive and creative side to come forward.
The process of change
I provide a space where you can be seen and heard exactly as you are. We’ll explore the patterns on the things you do and say, and the feelings and thoughts that go with them. We’ll look at what triggers them, and where they come from. You’ll learn bit by bit to be a wiser and more compassionate friend to yourself, so as to move towards a life which reflects the best of who you are.
FAQ
-
Absolutely not. With me therapy is an active and collaborative process. I’ll prompt, ask questions, and make suggestions - whatever helps you to achieve your goals.
-
There’s no reason why you should. I’ll work with you from the place that you’re in now, whatever it is. No judgements, no expectations.
-
As long as they need to - typically from six months to two or more years. But if you need more or less time than that; no problem. I’m here to help you understand and get what you need.
-
Definitely. The agreement is open-ended, and can be terminated whenever feels right for you.
-
I don’t see young people under 18, but there’s no upper age limit. I’ve worked with people of every age from 18 to late 70s.
-
I don’t do ‘drop-ins’. A bit like a fitness or weight loss programme, therapy and counselling work much better with a sustained and regular commitment. But I’ll always do my bit to adapt around tour work and family commitments.
